SLIIT IS ALSO LIKE OTHERS

I have seen some blogs out there that say SLIIT is not upto the standard and SLIIT students have difficulty finding jobs. Here is my view on that.

First I must say that SLIIT course covers all you need to know about IT and more, after the 3rd year you will be a all rounder. In the 4th year you can master a specific area of your choice. you can goto the SLIIT website and see the course content.

So is there a problem finding jobs??? yes and no

I cannot speak for the people who did not do their studies well, but I know there are lot of good and talented people out there in SLIIT.

I heard people been accused in interviews just because they are from SLIIT, even before starting the interview. most companies have people from Morotuwa and they think they are the best, when those people(Not all)interview others they only like to see Morotuwa students come through.
Students in Morotuwa are the best in our schools, but the system they got through to universities is another story, they only know how to study without doing a single sport competitively in their life. so how come they learn how to win and loose?? they will behave in interviews just like I said till they die. (I'm not talking about all, I personally know really good people from Morotuwa.) the same apply to other government universities as well.

I agree, because of students who have not done their studies hard, will goto companies and leave a black mark in all SLIIT students, but companies should have a brain not to judge all students only by few individual performances.

Good Luck To All

How to choose from Curtin Vs SLIIT Degree (Curtin SLIIT)

You are going to 3rd year and wondering which path to choose from Curtin Vs SLIIT degree??
Here are some tips from my personal experiences.

Curtin degree is not that hard than most people say, I also did the Curtin degree and passed all subjects without repeating a single exam.

Benefits of Curtin degree,
1) You have to do 4 subjects but SLIIT degree has 5.
2) Degree is recognized all around the world.
3) you get a degree in 3 years.
4) you can do the 4th year as well for double degree.

Bad side of Curtin degree,
1) Expensive than SLIIT degree.
2) Repeat is also expensive.
3) Exam papers are created by Curtin
4) Since repeats are expensive the pressure in exams is much more than SLIIT degree.

Good Luck
JAYA WEWA!!!

SLIIT : Saddest Day Of My SLIIT Life

Today is the saddest day of my SLIIT life.
Curtin CC 2nd midterm marks were given to students and I missed it, because I was late when I saw it in the courseweb.
The sad part of it is that all other students went to that and no one even bothered to call me or my GF when we were missing :-(
I know it's not their fault but I feel really sad about it.
Today I learned one of the best lessons in my life, Yes you guessed it right.

Growing number of (freely) available libraries and programs worth to be
re-used
Exchangeable software units
Support of distributed parallel run time systems
Avoids linkage of may be incompatible libraries
Longer lifetime of implementations

State two advantages JAVA has over C#
Fully cross platform APIs including support for Graphics, Windowing and Multimedia.
LOTS AND LOTS of libraries available. Many are free and/or open source.

State two advantages C# over JAVA
The best way to write Windows desktop and web applications
The CLR is well designed and arguably better than the JVM
Good support for taking advantage of the native OS

SLIIT BUS

I must agree that this is a very nice service offered by the SLIIT to its students.
It's much more cheaper and faster to go home than a normal public bus.
This is also a very good advertising for SLIIT, when the bus go in the road people stop to take another look at it because of its logos.

SLIIT : Old Text Books

This is a really funny thing to say by a Librarian :

"Outdated text books available at the library NOW. Just take them home.
SLIIT Librarian" - notice is in the courseweb.

I wish that she can say this for every book in the Library :-)

SLIIT - Never Forget People Who Helped You

You maybe like or dislike SLIIT but you should never give false or spread bad things about SLIIT just because you have low grade or hard subjects.

SLIIT not maybe the best place but yet it helped us where government failed, to provide us with a degree for a very reasonable price. So please don't tell outsiders false things about SLIIT, It will harm us and future brothers and sisters who come to SLIIT.

Only SLIIT students can keep SLIIT alive.
Most campuses(government/private) watching till the SLIIT fall down.
Like a bunch of vultures they are waiting for the dead SLIIT body to feed on.

Never Forget People Who Helped You

SLIIT : How I write my exam

1) Go to the exam hall early (Never forget my ID card).

2) Get a good idea of the surrounding (you know what I mean).

3) Fill out the DIT in every given answer paper.

4) No panic when I get the paper.

5) I take some 5-10 minutes to read the whole paper.

6) My hand writing is ugly, so I underline important points.

7) No panic even if I don't know the answers.

8) Never leave blanks for question even if i don't know the answer.

9) Forget everything after the paper.

Golden Rule : NEVER LEAVE BLANKS TO QUESTIONS, write anything that comes into your mind.

Remember every point counts :)

SLIIT : Why ITA is so important??

Internet Technology and Applications (ITA) is a great subject to Polish your HTML and web scripting knowledge.

The end semester assignment you get in ITA is great way to improve your skill in web development.

Try to do your assignment on your own, This will help you in your 2nd year project as well.

Subject contains how to add, edit, delete values from a database via a web scripting language. This is exactly what you need in your second year project with a good creative thinking.
